From OpenStores shopping cart version 5.1, reward program supports Point Redemption, and Web Cash.

Point Redemption - Customers can only use their points to redeem selected products. Can not mix with other purchases.

Web Cash - Each point can be converted to dollar amount which the customers can use when they purchase any items from the store.

Set up reward program

To set up the reward program, login the admin panel and select 'Ads/Promotion -> Promotion -> Set up reward program'. Most of the settings are existing Reward Program settings. The new setting for web cash is the 'Dollar amount for each point' where you can specify the rate to convert the point to dollar amount.

Adjust Reward Points

You can adjust customer reward points when editing the customers within the 'Office Use Only' section. When point is adjusted, please specify the reason for the adjustment. The delta and the reason will be displayed in customers' reward point statement.

Hi,

Is it possible to convert from Reward Points to Web Cash by changing the option as outlined above for existing customers. Does the system automatically convert the existing customers points to web cash. How is the transaction carried out when the customer goes thru checkout. Can they used web cash & pay the difference by Paypal/Direct Deposit/Credit Card etc

Regards

Yes, if you change from Point Redemption to Web Cash, your customers' existing points will be converted to dollar amount based on the converting rate you've specified, and they can use the web cash when they check out.

Yes, when checkout, the system will deduct the webcash from total amount and customer pays the rest as per normal.

Does the customer have the option to use their web cash on a order. Some customers want to save their web cash points to use at a later date

Currently the customer has to use their web cash if they have some at checkout. It is possible we can add an option at the first step of checkout to choose if they want to spend their web cash in the future release.

The option should be given to the customer for them to decide if they wish to use their web cash.

This is a great feature but I will not be changing over until the option is part of the feature.

Webcash is a feature alot of online stores are incorporating. As it brings customers back far better than the old rewards system.

One problem with the rewards system is that customers did save up the rewards pionts until they had enough to purchase a particular item this in itself wouldn't be so bad but a big percentage of customers used it at one particular time and thats Xmas time so you used to have dozens or in some cases 100's buying gifts with there rewards pionts. You end up with all your existing customers purchasing xmas gifts with the rewards pionts and then had to rely on new customers to make any money, not a good thing for cashflow. Which is why most large online stores have stopped the rewards programs.

With web cash having to be used on there next purchase you are in most cases still making a profit on the item/s and giving your loyal customers a incentive to keep coming back

Thanks for your advise, however as far as our store is concerned, I believe that having the option to accrue web cash is a advantage. It hasn't had a negative impact on our cashflow and we have not been inundated with Redeemed Orders over the Christmas periods.

Don't forget that customers have to spend money to accrue the web cash.

Perhaps our customer base is a bit different.

Customers can use web cash but are they allowed to use coupon as a form of payment?
